Brazil (886K tons) constituted the country with the largest volume of consumption of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings, comprising approx. 33% of total volume. Moreover, consumption of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings in Brazil exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest consumer, China (373K tons), twofold. The third position in this ranking was held by the United States (252K tons), with a 9.4% share.

In Brazil, consumption of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings expanded at an average annual rate of +9.4% over the period from 2012-2024. The remaining consuming countries recorded the following average annual rates of consumption growth: China (+4.4% per year) and the United States (+5.4% per year).

In value terms, Brazil ($7.3B) led the market, alone. The second position in the ranking was held by the United States ($2.2B). It was followed by China.

From 2012 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of value in Brazil stood at +8.5%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United States (+6.1% per year) and China (+5.4% per year).

In 2024, the highest levels of per capita consumption of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings was registered in Finland (9.2 kg per person), followed by Brazil (4.1 kg per person), Saudi Arabia (1.1 kg per person) and Turkey (1 kg per person), while the world average per capita consumption of aluminium tube, pipe or pipe fitting was estimated at 0.3 kg per person.

In Finland, per capita consumption of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings expanded at an average annual rate of +32.8% over the period from 2012-2024. The remaining consuming countries recorded the following average annual rates of per capita consumption growth: Brazil (+8.6% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+7.2% per year).

Overall, the total production indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2024: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last twelve years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, production increased by +54.3% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 28%. Global production peaked at 2.7M tons in 2023, and then dropped modestly in the following year.

In value terms, production of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings totaled $20.4B in 2024 estimated in export price. In general, the total production indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2024: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last twelve-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, production decreased by -1.5% against 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 29%. Over the period under review, global production of hit record highs at $20.8B in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, production remained at a lower figure.

The countries with the highest volumes of production in 2024 were Brazil (881K tons), China (548K tons) and the United States (267K tons), together comprising 63% of global production. Japan, Turkey, Russia, Indonesia and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 14%.

From 2012 to 2024, the biggest increases were recorded for Finland (with a CAGR of +31.3%), while fittings for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

For the third year in a row, the global market recorded decline in overseas purchases of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings, which decreased by -9.3% to 415K tons in 2024. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, global imports of hit record highs at 514K tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2024, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings amounted to $3.8B in 2024. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% from 2012 to 2024; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28%. Over the period under review, global imports of attained the peak figure at $3.9B in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, imports remained at a lower figure.

The countries with the highest levels of imports of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings in 2024 were Germany (37K tons), the United States (35K tons), Mexico (26K tons), the Czech Republic (20K tons), Canada (19K tons), Thailand (18K tons), Poland (15K tons), India (14K tons) and Malaysia (12K tons), together recording 47% of total import. France (11K tons) took a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2024, the biggest increases were recorded for Thailand (with a CAGR of +2.9%), while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Mexico ($773M) constitutes the largest market for imported aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings worldwide, comprising 21% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($309M), with an 8.2% share of global imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.6% share.

From 2012 to 2024, the average annual growth rate of value in Mexico amounted to +10.1%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+2.0% per year) and Germany (-2.7% per year).

Aluminium; tubes and pipes represented the key type of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings in the world, with the volume of imports reaching 338K tons, which was approx. 81% of total imports in 2024. It was distantly followed by aluminium tube or pipe fittings (77K tons), achieving a 19% share of total imports.

Imports of aluminium; tubes and pipes decreased at an average annual rate of -2.0% from 2012 to 2024. At the same time, aluminium tube or pipe fittings (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, aluminium tube or pipe fittings emerged as the fastest-growing type imported in the world, with a CAGR of +1.4% from 2012-2024. From 2012 to 2024, the share of aluminium tube or pipe fittings increased by +5.5 percentage points.

In value terms, aluminium; tubes and pipes ($2.6B) constitutes the largest type of aluminium tubes, pipes and tube or pipe fittings imported worldwide, comprising 69% of global imports. The second position in the ranking was held by aluminium tube or pipe fittings ($1.2B), with a 31% share of global imports.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major imported products. In 2024, the product with the highest price was aluminium tube or pipe fittings ($14,998 per ton), while the price for aluminium; tubes and pipes stood at $7,701 per ton.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($29,972 per ton), while Malaysia ($4,267 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, the global exports of hit record highs at 555K tons in 2021; however, from 2022 to 2024, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

China represented the largest exporting country with an export of around 179K tons, which reached 40% of total exports. Italy (16K tons), Mexico (13K tons), Belgium (12K tons), South Korea (11K tons), Denmark (10K tons) and Vietnam (8.9K tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2024, average annual rates of growth with regard to aluminium tube, pipe or pipe fitting exports from China stood at +4.9%. At the same time, Vietnam (+24.0%), South Africa (+3.0%) and Mexico (+1.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +24.0% from 2012-2024. Belgium and the United States experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, South Korea (-1.6%), Denmark (-2.8%), Italy (-3.6%) and Germany (-4.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+16 p.p.) and Vietnam (+1.8 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the global exports from 2012-2024, the share of Italy (-2.3 p.p.) and Germany (-4.6 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, China ($1B), the United States ($512M) and Germany ($328M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2024, together comprising 53% of global exports. Italy, Mexico, South Korea, Belgium, South Africa, Denmark and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 18%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +21.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
